I've been catching post-spawn Bowfin in the shallows. This particular fish was a female. She turned the boat around - with two people in it - and headed for deep water. Bowfin like to jump and "walk" on the water, but this one was just brute submarine strength. I didn't see her until she tried to rip my hand off next to the boat.
