6.5 lb. Largemouth Bass caught by Zachary Lamontagne fishing in Massachusetts on 05/04/08

My 9 year old son Zachary went fishing with his brother and grandfather at Meadow Pond in Whitinsville, MA when he caught this 21 inch large mouth bass. When he got home, we rushed it to the taxidermist to have it mounted, and he immediately froze it. When we found out that Zachary could qualify for an award for the fish, we brought it to Gerry's Bait and Tackle in Milford to get weighed in. The fish weighed in a just over 5 lbs, but we were told that it lost weight because it was frozen. We had weighed it in at almost 7 lbs when he first caught it. This is the second large mouth bass he had caught at Meadow Pond in Whitinsville. Last year he caught on about 19 inches while ice fishing on the same area. Zachary always seems to outfish everyone in the family whenever we go out, whether it is here or at the family cabin in Maine and he is always willing to help out anyone near him that is not catching any fish. Just look for the kid with the mohawk reeling in all the fish and he'll help.

That's a huge bass for Massachusetts... congratulations, Zachary! Too bad you did not get it weighed in right away. Nice time you will know -- seems like there will be lots of next times for you. Posted by Joe Pych
