fished this night with catfish in mind. didn't know blues were in these waters...but i certainly do now!
fished in the slack water below the dam, where the sidewalls for the shipping locks provide a rather calm and very deep (60ft+) darkwater pool.
the blue hit hard and fought well. it took about 12 minutes to pull it from the depths. i caught 2 other blues that were only a little smaller, as well as several channel cats, and even a sturgeon that i had to release (hard to believe that a 200lb fish can jump like that!)
i think finally the river is recovering from the enviromaniacs 'drawdowns'. i next time i should 'harvest' a few of them, and save the fish.
