This was really an awesome afternoon! It started by me Ben skipping football practice to try and get in on fall walleye action on the MN River. Got out there and began working the bottom with a jig and fathead and SLAM had a fish on right a way. We may dad and I were in a boat by the way. Got the fish up and it was a big ole catfish. He was right in the 10lb. range. So we continue doin what we were set out to do but hooked up to 5 more of the 10-12lb.range cats all flatheads. They were of course small flats but they were sure bitin. We decided we would make one more pass over a big pile of rip-rap and call it quits and move to another location. Just as we were nearing the edge of the pile a fish dang near ripped the rod from my hand. So I set the hook even though the fish pretty much set it on himself and oh boy the battle was on. I remind you now that we were fishin for eyes so 8lb. test and med/hvy action rods were our chosen were our weapons of choice. So I hooked into this fish and almost immediately knew it was much bigger than what either my dad and I had just recently caught.I couldn't move him! All I could do was pretty much hang on and take what he would give me. My biggest concern was to hopefully get him away from the big rocks and stuff we were fishin over the top of and I really feel that is the only reason my dad and I were able to land him is that we had the advantage of being verticle with the fish. Anyway now that you know that the fish was landed he pulled a 16ft. boat around in the MN River for a good half hour until I was able tho get him to the top. It was really awesome and being able to share that memory with my dad was even better. Ben Davis
