This fish is a PACU. It is a relative of the Piranna, but it is a herbavore. This is a rare catch here in Florida. I was using a large live night crawler for bait but the best part is I was using my UltraLight Rod & Reel with 4lb. test line. It was touch and go a few times before I finally landed the fish.

BTW: We seasoned it, wrapped it in banana leaves and slow smoke/cooked it on the pit ..... Delicious.

Oh yea they have crushing teeth used to crack open nuts that fall in the water! Another invasive fish! When are people going to stop releasing there overgrown pets into the wilds??

Good call on it being a Pacu. I once grew one that big in a 55-g aquarium. Unfortunately, I had to euthanize it...I was a novice aquarist at the time.
