4.7 lb. American Shad caught by Tim Fancher fishing on Tuesday May 17, 2005 at 12:30 in Westfield River near Agawam in Hampden County, Massachusetts (MA), United States North America using a Red and White Shad Dart a Lipless Bait

April and May bring the Shad and Stripers straight up the CT River into the Tribs to spawn. Shad can be a fun fish to catch and I was fourtunate enough to work in Agawam, MA within five minutes of the Westfield River. I would head to the river during my lunch break and caught this beauty between a 6" Subway Club and a sales call! My biggest Shad to date.

	That's a big shad! I used to fish for those in the CT River in Enfield... not too far from you. Amazing what they would hit -- basically a piece of lead. Posted by Joe Pych about 1 year ago
