Same channel, same area, same station, same gig, same technique, same results.
Hit the ice yesterday. The ice was in very good condition, better than I thought it would be after the warm spell last week.
We fished for about 2-1/2 hours and it was nearly non-stop action. It took the wife 45 minutes to eat a sandwich because she (wouldn't) take her line out of the water, and (couldn't) set it down for more than a minute without a fish hitting.
There were times when I'd look down into a hole and see fish in the entire water column. We were fishing in about 15 feet of water. It seems the larger ones were coming from 2 to 4 feet off the bottom. The "larger" ones weren't huge, just under 10" and we had about a dozen of them.
Threw back a lot of dinks but kept these for meals. We ended up with 77 fish.
When we were leaving the ice, we ran into a couple of fisherman that we'd ran into before. A young fella named Austin (10 yrs old?)and his father. The first time we ran into them, they'd fished all day and only caught one perch. Yesterday, they'd been out for an hour and had two perch to show for it. I showed them how to rig their lines differently, pointed them in "another direction" to try their luck and gave them a dozen perch to take home to fry, they promised me they'd eat them. Hopefully they took some advice, changed their set up, moved, and caught more fish. Hope they did well.
