I've resumed my quest to land a Bowfin on a fly rod, and today I had good results. I hooked a Bowfin and lost it, but along the way I landed a bushel of White Bass and White Crappie. White Bass are as fun to catch as any fish on a fly rod. In fact, I think a fly rod is the best way to catch them, as they don;t tire as they do against the drag of a spinning rod. Here is my best fish of the day!

The Gizzard are thick (accidental foul hooking is easy)...caught some nice Hickorys last weekend. I was little farther east on the Neuse and Tar last weekend, planning to check closer to Milburnie in the next day or two. Sounds like I need to split my time and add Fins to the list.
