18.0" / 4.5 lb. Largemouth Bass caught by Mike S fishing on Sunday March 22, 2009 at 15:30 in Shearon Harris Reservoir 5.26 km from Holly Springs in Wake County, North Carolina (NC), United States North America using a Senko a Worm by Gary Yamamoto Custom Baits

Out on the Kayak with Ian and Joe. I turned around and they were gone man! I paddled out into the middle of some hydrilla where the power boats won't dare to go. Fish were rolling all around me. I missed a few but finally landed this pig. Great place to fish. Won't be able to get back in there soon when the hydrilla gets worse.

Thanks, Mike. Maybe I should get a leash because I do want to bring it on the river.

I have the clips on the side of my yaks too. Thats what I normally use or just leave it across my lap. Lot of folks use paddle leashes though. If I'm in any current thats what I'd use.

Mike,

I have a newbie kayak fishing question for you... what do you do with the paddle when you are fishing? My kayak has a bungee on the side to hold the paddle, but it's a hassle to keep putting it there to make a few casts then back out again. If I just put the paddle on my lap, it's likely to go overboard. I'm thinking there must be a better way.

Thanks for your advice.

I dig being out on the yak. That hour and half paddle back kinda sucks though.
