I've fished here several times, seen bass jump and splash, but never caught anything. The location is in the backside of an unfinished housing development that may be failing (lots of dumping/trash). I threw about everything from lizards Carolina to poppers before I put on this beat up lure I salvaged last year. I had nothing invested in it but the hooks, so I started seeing how close I could land around the collapsed wooden bridge in front of this spot. It was on one of these retrieves, no more than 4' from the bank, when the 3# hit. He was hiding in the weed/grass and had ignored all my other offerings (in the previous 35+ minutes). He came out just as I was about to jerk the lure out of the water and took it in plain sight. What a thrill! After a short fight, I pulled him over the bank and on the scale (after dropping him once and breaking my 15# line in the process). I had to use the pliers to pull the hooks out of his tough lower lip before returning him to make someone else's day. Posted by R J 11 months ago
