12.0" / 1.0 lb. Largemouth Bass caught by Josh Bacharach fishing on Friday May 08, 2009 at 18:23 near Lombard in DuPage County, Illinois (IL), United States North America using a 3/8 oz. bone(white&orange) lipless crank a Lipless Bait by Rapala International

went down to the pond again yesterday and today, I was throwing a lipless crankbait, rapala bone colored 3/8 oz., , 6'6 bps bionic blade rod, shimano citica e baitcaster reel.. it was about 5:20-something, partly sunny, and in mid 70s.. I wasn't exspecting a bite off this lure this afternoon, considering ive been catching larger between 3 and 4 lbs-ers off topwater poppers, and spinnerbaits, as well as 6 inch black worms. But sure enough, the wind stood still for a matter of seconds, enough for me to over cast a spot I KNOW holds bass, i let the lipless sink about 4 seconds(4 ft. or so) instead of just reeling it in, in a medium retrieve as i would during the summer, I tried a new method of retrieve i learned on bassmasters elite series last weekend, you let it sink, then pump it in, and reel slack, pump, and reel, pump, and reel, alllll the way in, what happens is the bait as ur reeling in the slack, falls like an injured baitfish, then the pump brings it in like 4 ft or so, then its falling again, that retrieve along with rapalas irresistable rattle, and vibrating action, is pretty sure to entice a bass to strike, and then sure enough, a little mini BAM!!! wasnt much of a fight, but hey, a bass is a bass right?? i caught this 12, 12.5 inch, 1 lbs or so juvie bass.. and caught one very similar in size an weight yesterday off a boo-yah oval double bladed spinnerbait., , I cant complain, dont have to go very far, out my back door, and a few 100 ft, and im catching bass from 5 lbs-1 lbs on a regular basis, i can practice new methods of bass fishing all the time, and perfect my methods really well. every avid bass fishermans dream.. a mini lake right in the back yard!!
