using
a homemade blood bait w/ plastic ring worm to hold
a Tube
Yates Center City lake that you have to pay to get in to fish($2 aday or $20 a year) which is worth it! I have never been skunked there. Took my son there and made him throw back the first fish he caught, which was 15lbs. and later on he understood. Use bloodbait we make out of cheese and used to be cow brains and shad(now you can't get brains, so you figure out what we use now and it still comes from a cow). It takes afew weeks in a big plastic drum for it to cook, but it makes some of the best catfish bait I have ever used!! Bar None!! We fish the feeders and after they spin out the fish come in to get the floating fish food and we use a large(and I mean large) cork with the hook and bait hanging aprox 1.5 to 2' below the cork,or we throw inside the ploy pipe ring and let the bait hang over about the same depth. Then...hold on and only use one pole, because you will lose the other one if you don't tie it down or stand on it or whatever. There is only a two fish creel for 24hours, so go and plan on staying atleast part of one day fish the night and stay until morning so you can get two days limit. One of the most fun and enjoyable places I have ever fished. Be sure you have good equiptment with good fresh line...we use spiderwire(stealth/green color) using a swivle with 30-50lbs. mono leaders and turn the drag all the way down tight. If you don't get on these fish...you will loose them..I promise!! I have seen whiskers come up that I guarntee are aleast a foot across from one end to the other...HUGE CHANNELL CATS!! I have also gotten ahold of some that I couldn't do anything with and I use Eagle Claw poles, two spin cast and one level wind, all with spider wire and all are proven catfish poles.. So take my advise..come prepared and you will understand what I am saying. If you do get a chance to go..I promise you..You will go away with memories that will last a lifetime...Have Fun!!!
