90.0 lb. Nothing caught by Ruben Alvarez fishing on Saturday May 30, 2009 at 15:30 in Colma Creek near South San Francisco in San Mateo County, California (CA), United States North America

Broke three leaders between 3pm and 3:30 pm , all breaks were clean cuts possibly sharks. Set the hook on the fourth bite , and burned the skin off two fingers trying to hold the spool. The inital bite took 30 yards of line and then subsided to a rapid and heavy nonstop pull. The fish ran for about 20 seconds and then hesitated , thinking I could turn it's head I increased the tension and off it went again.Another 150 yards of 30 lb. test stren line went out in seconds , the scream of the line in the air was constant. Had a fight with a batray four years ago that lasted 2 hours from shore and came in at 80 lbs., this ray was much bigger. Thanks to todays batray actually stopping twice during this fight it increased the time of the battle to about 2 minutes .Equipment used today , 30lb. line,3 foot stainless steel leader, mackrel for bait. And lost 200 yards of line in a losing battle that was really one sided , want some fun that can pull back go to Alameda and hope it only weighs 50lbs.
