22.0" Bowfin caught by Henry V fishing on Tuesday June 23, 2009 at 09:00 near Chapel Hill in Orange County, North Carolina (NC), United States North America using a lure by Mepps

I don;t know what happened, or how to explain but the Little River has come back to life in a big way. Two summers ago it was dry from drought, coated with oil run-off, and the beavers had choked off water flow with their dams. Now the run off is largely gone, the beaver dams have been reduced by strong rains, and the water levels and temps are great. Maybe that's the reason, or maybe the fish have just been bored. But they are biting now.

This Bowfin put up a great fight. It attacked my favorite lure of late, the Mepps Aglia spinner, as it crossed over a sand bar. The first bite was really violent, the ensuing fight was just brutal. And then I landed him - my 4th Bowfin this week and 17th of the year.

Henry what a great catch and I'm glad the action is good.
This water body has a unusual shape being so slanted.
I guess that helps to launch a floating device.
How deep is that water more or less ?
