The day i caught my 42 pound Striped bass was not an ordinary day. In my school it was "take your child to work day", and so most of the students went with their parents to work. Being the avid anglers we are my grandpop and i took this oporunitity to do a day of Striper fishing on the delaware river. So we slipped our 16 foot Lund into the 54 degree water and set off to our first spot, the mouth of tullytown cove. This spot has yeilded many Stripers for us in the past. The tide was coming up and the wind was blowing south so that put our boat at a horrible position. We managed to land a 10lb catfish. But we also had to battle bown chilling winds and big swells. So we were stuck in a perdicament on what to do. Eather call it quits or try to tuff it out. We did know of a spot that looked kind of calmer and held some decent fish. This spot was called the Green House. (because there is a nice peice of water right in front of a green house. It wasn't more than 10 minutes until my grandpop got a schoolie sized striper, about 10 inches on a Sabiki Rig. Gold hooks used to catch herring shad. About 20 minutes later, our only Bait pole that was in the water doubled over. In excitement i tightened the drag and Started the backbreaking 15 fight that i would remember the rest of my life. After that 15 minutes it took the two of us to land it, we drug it over the side and it made a loud thud on the bottom of the boat. Astonished of what i caught we took a few pictures and set the beast free. Then when our knees stopped trembling from pure adrenelen, we put out another pole, and this time was my grandpops. Not to lond after he hooked into a another huge fish. After a long fight i slipped my boga grip into its massive mouth and pulled it onto the deck. Then after being wiped out from a whole day of fishing we pulled up our anchor and headed for the dock. What a day to remember. Sincerely, James Buonanno and good fishin' THIS FISH WAS CAUGHT IN JERSEY NOT P.A. Posted by James Buonanno 8 months ago
