The Glacial Lakes of Northeast South Dakota have some of the best ice fishing found anywhere! Jumbo perch, crappies, walleye, northern pike, smallmouth bass and monster panfish can all be found in the sloughs and lakes of the northeast.

So how do you find the hot bite in the northeast? It's all about contacts. Make the trips, meet people at the bait shops, lodges, on the lake. Develope friendships with these people. Bait shop owners will most likely tell you some of the more popular lakes at the time, but if they know you well, they will tell you where the bite is at, what to use, and what depth to fish. When in the area, here are a few people to talk to. They are always very helpful.

I like to visit the region at least 3 or 4 times per year to scout for new fishing spots. This really helps when winter comes along. I actually have a plan, rather than just guessing on where to go. Keep that in mind.

duh... I just looked at this picture again and what I thought was a coffee cup is a refuse can or somthing. Maybe I am the one that needs the coffee ;-).

Lots of nice fish, though! And that maps shows lots of places to fish... you could spend a lifetime fishing there.
