39.0" Coho Salmon caught by Jim Schaffner fishing on Tuesday October 02, 2007 at 06:27 in Gorman Lakes near Millersburg in Presque Isle County, Michigan (MI), United States North America using a Spawn a Salmon Egg

We caught Limits of Salmon Fishing the Cheyboygen River at the intown Dam . The fish were big females to 39 inches in length . This spot has been a consistant producer of Big Chrome Females for over 5 years . It is worth a 500 mile trip for me every year . Middle of Sept thru middle of Oct is best . HINT the Best Western on the river in Cheyboygen is top shelf and reasonable with boat docks . We wade the river and there is a City Boat ramp for small boats to the dam . Don't bring it if you can't drag it a litle over the shallows with small rocks . Fishing was slow at Rogers City and Alpena as it has been the last few years because of the drought . The for the first time we caught a fish with a locator in its head and the State sent us a Free Sweedish Pimple for turning the head in . Also the city has a amazing fish cleaning station best I have ever seen and it is no charge . Great trips every year .email with questions

Jim - great story. No wonder you make the long trip every year. Very nice fish, too!

What is the locator for? Is fish and game tracking movements of the fish?

Hi Jim,
Nice fish but I think you made a mistake with
The weight.
