Started the day with a dead battery. No problem I'll switch it to the trolling motor battery. Well as I was closing the lid I slipped and out the boat I went. On the way into the water I managed to break off my navigation light and slam my hand on the side of the boat. So I stood there wet with what I thought maybe a broken hand saying this is a sign to go home. But i grit my teeth and headed out. Fished for about three hours catching a few small ones here and there, then I spotted a school of fish breaking water that was about 100ft deep. Grabbed my spook and gave it a launch. Hooked up on the first cast, now Amistad has Striped bass so I'm thinking Striped bass all the way until I see this huge dark mass coming up. By this time my hand had swelled to the size of a Grapefruit, but that really didn't matter lipping the largest bass of my life!! If you take anything from this story I hope it's this. "If you don't go you won't catch'em". I was so close to going home that day! Glad I didn't! Oh almost forgot the fish was released and I got a fibergass replica. Posted by Doug Reavis 7 months ago
