31.0" / 10.5 lb. Bowfin caught by Mike S fishing on Sunday August 16, 2009 at 15:25 near Chapel Hill in Orange County, North Carolina (NC), United States North America using a 1/4 oz yellow spinner bait a In-Line Spinner by Strike King Lure Company

It's been a long time. I finally woke up feeling like a human again so I headed out to hang out with JoeA and family at Upper Little Creek. I wasn't there long and landed a 1.5 lbs LMB.
I didn't have many lures with me so I tried getting as much as I could out of a beat up Senko. A few minutes later I landed a small 12" bowfin. I wish I had an aquarium.

Finally, my senko had gave all it could and I switched to a spinnerbait with a trailer hook on it. I moved over a little in the impoundment area and was talking to Joe when all of a sudden I got a massive strike. She was pulling hard. I haven't really been able to fish much since late April so I thought maybe I just didn't remember how great these fish fight. Come to find out I had this beauty on. Biggest Bowfin I've ever landed. 10.5 pounds and 31 inches. Thanks go to Joe and Tracy for the assist on the landing. I missed fishing with the two of you!

	lol, thats right. I think I'll take a week off and secure my lead again. It was an awesome day. Hot, but awesome. I caught my smallest and largest Bowfin ever today. Felt good to get a line in the water again. Posted by Mike S 3 months ago
