19.0" / 3.0 lb. Bowfin caught by Henry V fishing on Thursday September 10, 2009 at 09:01 in Little Creek near Chapel Hill in Orange County, North Carolina (NC), United States North America using a lure by Mepps

I headed over to the Upper Little Creek impoundment early this morning. It was cloudy and the water was low, but I noticed a few fish close to the surface, including one big fin that came up to get some air. The fish in the main pool were not hungry, so I ventured back to the RT 54 bridge. I was throwing my trusty Mepps Aglia spinner when a small fin followed it to the bank and took a swipe. It was a good sign, so I stayed after them. This 19" fin grabbed the spinner in the main channel and put up a tough fight before giving up the ghost.

The fins must be in hiding back in there, Thats 2 so far under that bridge and we fished back there a hundred times getting skunked every trip
