So I have been telling my wife for 3 years about how much I have always wanted to catch a Pike/Pickerel and never have. How the lake we fish has Pickerel, but they only bite late in the year and we are never there. Well this year we go out just before fall begins and on her second cast she reels in this monster(for our area) Now as she is reeling in I notice her rod is bent quite a bit but there is not a lot of action on the line. I am sure it is not a bass and there is no perch that big that can make a bend like that on that rod. The fish draws near and I ready the net, and then I see it, my white whale on her rod (actually my rod hers was out of commission but whatever) She hooked him good in the lip and I went straight to work. I used the hook grabbers to avoid the teeth, but that hook was not coming out, I filled the live well to get the Pickerel some water while I performed surgery. After about 10 minutes I was able to put the fish back in the water. It was in shock and I felt bad but it eventually returned to the depths on the lake.
I write this long of a story because later on I caught a bait fish perch and my wife gets my white whale, well i guess that is life as an angler
