using
a chicken livers
Fishing at night between a feeder and shore in apox. 4'-8' of water. Boat was setting in 18' of water and I was using fresh chicken livers on a #6 ss hook, using an eagle claw pole with a shamanno spinning reel filled with spiderwire. I had it rigged with 1/2 oz. egg sinker which could slide between the barrell swivle and a split shot apox. 8" above the hook, which all of it was on a #30 mono leader. I was throwing in toward shore which had weeds growing along side and in the water along the shore. It had set there probably 20min. when the rod was nearly pulled from my hands. I'm glad I wasn't trying to eat something at the time or anything else because if I had not had the rod in my hands..it would have been at the bottom of the lake!! It took nearly 15min. to land that fish, it was quite a struggle! I have caught flathead bigger than that but with less of a fight. I do have a pic but it was taken by my brother with his 35mm camera. I do have a copy but I do not have a scanner that works anymore. Until I can get it put on my computer, you will just have to believe me..but I promise to have it soon and when I do, I will have you unbelievers convinced. I truely wish I had a pic of the #53 flathead that I caught so you could see how big tht monster truely was...The guy that used to have the bait shop here in town has one, but I have not seen him in along time...hopefully one day I will..Until next time...I wish you Great Fishing!!
