36.0" / 16.0 lb. Steelhead caught by Matt Hanist fishing on Tuesday October 10, 1995 at 16:31 4.94 km from Pulaski in Oswego County, New York (NY), United States North America

This is the biggest male steelhead I ever caught. It ate a #8 Chartruese marabou with a silver tinsel body. It made a huge run downstream - so far that I was running out of line and had to chase the fish about 150 yards down river before I was able to beach it on a gravel bed.

Sorry the picture is small but I scanned it from an old print and it won't show any larger on this site.

Steelhead one of the hardest to catch. Awesome fish!

Luckily the riffle it ran through was just knee deep otherwise if it had been deeper I likely wouldn't have been able to wade so fast to catch up with the fish.

150 yards is a pretty long haul; worth it for a fish like that.

Nice one. One of my buddies goes up and fishes in Pulaski a lot. Great area for steelhead!
