WALLEYE:
Tough fishing in February on blue ridge. between the cold weather and the never ending shad kill it has made this lake almost non productive. Fish can be found all over the sun soaked banks above point 5 but getting them to eat is another story. Look for March to bring this lake back to life. The end of the month should be good for the walleyes to start making their move up river and become more active. The full moon in march is always a good time to target these fish. Small to med grub trailers on 1/4- 1/2 oz. jig heads are always a good search tool. If that isn't producing try tipping the jig with a med to large minnow or half of a night crawler. If you find a area holding fish in current try tossing a #3 mepps spinner in bucktail with a gold blade and work it slow near the bottom. Night fishing can be very productive as well. Try throwing a smaller crankbait at rocky shore lines i like a gizz3 in blue pearl or green pearl from Smack Tackle as well as a rapala x-rap in olive pearl.

Bass:
.Now is a good time to get out and scout some new hot spots. There are exposed rock piles, wood piles, trees, sunken house and pontoon boats and all other sorts of cover that is out of the water now and easy to mark on a map or gps. The bass will be on these structures as soon as the water levels allows it. As the lake level comes back up look for the fish to start moving back to the docks to get out of the mid day sun.The top water bite should get better with every degree the water temp goes up. If you are after large mouth look in star creek for any submerged wood piles or cut trees as they will lay as close to the cover as they can. Try a dark color jig with large trailers, watermelon, pumpkin seed or even shad colored trailers will get bit.
