first day out and first time here. we were fishing the perfect shoreline in perfect spring weather (overcast day after a few consecutive warm/sunny days). not a single bite on anything we threw for over an hour. about 3 minutes after the cold winds and pouring rain started, we pulled in a ton of little crappies, sunnies and perch on rubber minnows. you've got to brave the elements to reap the rewards. some of these guys were pushing 3 ounces. oh, and don't buy Helly-Tech rain gear. their interpretation of "waterproof/breathable" translates loosely to "you'll be sweating so much that you won't notice how soaked you are from the rain". we finally saw some bass action (and a couple pickerel) at the south end of the pond after the rain slowed a bit. pulled this guy out from under the bridge in the background after sidearming my spinnerbait off of a passing car. he put up a nice fight and perfectly executed that great bass maneuver when you release: wide open mouth and a slow, backwards descent into the water. can't wait to catch him again this summer.
i didn't really hit a car, but it was still a pretty good cast.
