How happy is Nicole for landing this 2.76 pound salmon? Ecstatic! And so is her dad, Rob, who helps to display this fiesty 3-year old specimen. Nicole explains this salmon was caught by trolling a live smelt on lead core line. On the catch, she says "the fish gave a good fight and my arms were tired." Nicole has been fishing virtually since the crib with the encouragement and guidance of her dad. This is Nicole's second year in the Winni Derby. She won a prize in her first and looks to repeat again. Rob has been fishing Winni for perhaps 40 years. He's landed the biggest lake trout in the derby three times. The first two were before the prize was a boat. Fortunately for Rob, they introduced the prize before his third and he came away with a new boat! Nicole gets out on the water fishing every couple of weeks with her dad or grandfather who conveniently lives on Lake Winnipesaukee. Posted by Joe Pych
