13.0" Rainbow Trout caught by Greg J fishing on Saturday May 17, 2008 at 12:58 in Little Round Top Pond near Harrisville in Providence County, Rhode Island (RI), United States North America using a 1/8 oz. Rooster Firetiger a In-Line Spinner

Caught this pretty rainbow just below 15 ft falls that drop into a beautiful brook between two ponds. It's a tight spot and we weren't really planning to fish it until we noticed all kinds of trout trying to jump up the damn falls. They ranged in size from 8-16 inches long, but their determination stretched for miles. They were relentless. Maybe they went over when they were first stocked and have been trying to get back up to the pond ever since. Maybe they had family on the other side. My admiration and amazement turned to sympathy because there was just no way they were gonna make it. I thought about offering some sort of catapult, but quickly decided against it. These guys are smart enough already, they don't need tools. Next thing you know they'll be commiserating with the dolphins and then we're finished. If they want to emulate sockeye salmon, fine. I pretended my spinner was a grizzly bear and pulled in this little beauty. Ha! Man prevails!

Wrong.

Somewhere between having her picture taken and being put back from whence she came, this seemingly innocent young fish played the final hand of her master plan and manipulated the sensitivities of my 4 year old son to catch a free ride up to the pond. I've never felt so used. We packed up and went looking for bass.

	Thanks guys. When you have a great couple of days after more than a year off, the stories practically tell themselves. I'm glad to have found a place to share.
