a Live Smelt
I caught this friday afternoon of the Winni Derby on Live smelt. I use many different techniques but when fishing with live bait I always have a "long line" off the back of my boat... I set a smelt out on a sliding-bait rig about 150-200 feet behind the boat then set the rod in a high rod holder so the line and the rod are out of the way and i can set the other lines. I put the drag on really light and set the "clicker" to the on position so when a fish hits it I can hear it! This technique produced my biggest catches all weekend!
