Jeremy Parker (second from right in the brown hooded sweatshirt) was trolling a smelt not too far down when he hooked this healthy 4-year old salmon.
Jeremy is a devoted fisherman. Angling since he was 1 year old and been fishing in the Winni derby for the last 8 years. As you can see from the picture, he's not alone. He and his dad, Michael Parker (brown sweatshirt, black sunglasses) fish as Team Noname.
Team Noname had to overcome adversity to land this fish. The day started off bad when they lost a downrigger ball. Then they swamped the back of the boat with 12" of water. When Mike hit the throttle to clear the decks, it threw Jeremy off balance and he used his head to break his fall. Ouch!
But that did not deter them and their quest to win the Winni Derby. They kept fishing and landed this fish.
Also in the picture are the crew of Lady Jinx: Jim Zela (left), Gloria Zela (holding dog), Avery Zdon (holding salmon, far right), and Zoey the dog.
Avery won a boat in 2001 by landing the biggest fish in the junior division of the Winni Derby!
These two teams met each other 15 years ago at the LCI Derby at Lake Champlain and have been fishing together ever since.

They say the old timers fire it off every once in a while to wake everyone up. You can see one of them sitting up on the porch.
