35.0" / 18.0 lb. Common Carp caught by Chris DeMartine fishing on Sunday September 04, 2005 at 05:20 in Carnegie Lake near Princeton in Mercer County, New Jersey (NJ), United States North America using a corn muffin mix & strawberry gelatin dough bait a Baitfish

Waited 4 hours with no action at all. I started getting agitated about the whole 'carp-fishing' idea. I figured ugly fish wouldn't be that smart, but they are hard to catch. Just about when I was ready to give up, the line rose & I hooked into a huge carp on my homemade dough bait. It stripped out 50 yards of my 20lb. test before I could start to pull it in out of Carnegie Lake.

It was a lot of fun, but I don't have enough patience to do nothing for 4 hours waiting for a fish to bite.

Thanks! I used an old fiberglass blank that my friend's Dad pulled out of a trash can & made into a custom rod.

WAY TO GO CHRIS. PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE AND YOU NEED ALOT
WHEN YOU ARE FISHING FOR CARP. MY FRIENDS AND I SET UP
A ROD IN A SAND SPIKE AND FISH FOR OTHER SPECIES.IT'S A
THRILL WHEN ONE TAKES OFF WITH THE LINE. WHAT TACKLE
DID YOU USE.I'M KIND OF BIASED WHEN IT COMES TO RODS.
I LIKE EUROPEAN RODS BECAUSE THEY OFFER BETTER TAPERS FOR
ALOT LESS MONEY.YOU CAN GET G-LOOMIS ACTION FOR ALMOST
HALF THE COST
