wake county fishing

Hello fellow fishermen,

Could you share a few honey holes with me in the garner area, please? I can't find anything but benson and wheeler.

Pretty slim pickings out this way, in my experience. The Neuse crosses 42 over by Clayton, and there are a few creeks that feed into the Neuse in the area.

As far as bigger lakes go, Benson and Wheeler are the two main ones. Harris lake is a bit of a drive. There's also Yates Mill Pond (very small, limited fishing from one pier).

There are tons of really nice private ponds in the area, if you can get permission from the owners.

I'll second Jason's evaluation, though I do have to say that the creek that runs out of Lake Benson looks good if you can find access. Jason, is Yates MIll the Wildlife managed pond? I saw one on the map, and was curious.

Yates Mill is just north of Lake Wheeler - I think it's a county park.
