Mine would be a Pop-R. I know I wouldnt be able to catch fish with it year round but come summer when the bass starting hittin this top water bait, to me is no better feeling and sight.

Brandon Mabrey

I knew you were gonna say that john, I guess I would have to go with a watermelon candy baby brushhog, they will catch fish year round

Ronald Knauff

Although I don't fish them...I'd have to go with some type of spoon.  Very versitile in either salt or fresh water.

Andrew Siegel

I would have to go with a rapala original floater (F07 SH) 1/8 oz , 2 3/4 long in either shad, shiner or fire tiger. Catch lots of different fish with one lure.

rapala dt-4 all day, or a chrome rattle trap. either.

I like this discussion! I'd go for live worm if I could pick live bait :) But I'm also on the floating rapala bandwagon. That's been my go to and backup lure forever. Lots of confidence with that one.

Gotta go with the watermelon candy baby brush hog. They just flat out catch fish plain and simple.  If in doubt check them out  lots of different variations available. Lots of different  applications.

I'm with the Rapala floater, any color as long as it has a orange belly. I like that it can be worked real slow in colder water and faster in warmer water. I've also had luck trolling it.

Justin Emerle

White/Chartreuse Crappie Magnet. I catch all species on it at all times of the year in any lake. I can jig it, steady retrieve it, bounce it, etc. It's really an amazing little lure.

Rodger Booth since ive been jig fishing all my life id have to say it would be a simple 2" white twister tail on a1/4oz head.it can be used year round, fresh or salt water, fast or slow. ive cought.flounder .shnook.trout (lakers and steelhead) cats (blue. and alot of flatheads).carp.bgills of every color.bass sm lg and stripe.walleye .sauger. even a sting ray and grouper.just wish that they werent trash after the third fish if your lucky enough to keep it that long.

Jacob C.

wow! its a toss up for me, either a nice small to medium sized Rapala Shad Rap or a Castaic Swimbait lure. the only problem with the Castaic Swimbait lure is its price. these can be between $20 to $35 each! with that being said i'd have to stick with Rapala crank baits

Little Cleos are my fave... you can cast them a mile from shore, or jig or troll them in a boat... I don't use them all the time, but been using them more and more lately.

Mine would be a Mepps Aglia #3 gold with a squirrel tail. Caught most of my fish on that over the last 50 years. It is my go to lure to see whats about. Nothing has worked as well for me.

When I was a kid, my favorite lure was the Little Cleo, cuz it had a nekked lady on the back!  Why don't they make them like that anymore???

Chris DeMartine

It all depends on the fish. But if I were out for survival, then I'd pick a 1/8 oz. Coachdog Rooster Tail. It catches everything from 5 inch native brook trout to 4 pound largemouth bass. A teen caught a 15+ pound tiger muskie on one in NJ a few years back. I've caught hundreds of fish on this.

Posted by Chris DeMartine Expert Member over 7 years ago - Report Abuse

definitaly a white jig all the way

Mark Glass

Powerbait, hollow belly, paddle tail.  Just came back from a trip.  Caught walleye, pike, and smallies on the bait.  Fished it down deep, and burned it across the top.  Covered the water column vertically, and adjusted with a countdown.  What a versatile, multi species bait.  Additionally, all of the strikes were violent.  No nibblers on this presentation.

James Buonanno

straight tail worms in general: roboworms, senkos, dingers. I think they are very versitile, and i caught my 6.1 largemouth on a straight tail finese worm. You can twitch them on top in the summer or texas / carolina /  slit  shot rig on the bottom in the winter.

I'm just a novice at this....but the Rebel Wee Crawdad has been my go to when all else is slow.  I've caught LM bass, Crappie, Pickerel, and Bluegill on this bait.  Started fishing senkos and shim-e-stiks this spring....they have been very productive for bass.
