Ken Lockwood Gorge

Going up North NJ Saturday staying for a week or 2. Every1 know about the Ken Lockwood Gorge or the South Branch of the Raritan River heard that these places are great for fly fishing. Any tips to a newbie at the art of fly fishing when fishing this stream? Or even any surrounding area's?

i drove by the pequest river today with my kids. if you take rt 46 west toward white NJ you'll see signs for the pequest hatchery. there's a little parking lot with access to the river and i saw a bunch of guys in waders with fly rods heading out to fish. i haven't fished there myself, but it is a pretty part of the state.

Thanks Joe for the different places. I try the Ken Lockwood Gorge was there for 5hrs not one single bite. Every1 that was fishing that day also had no bites nothing at all. Talking to the local's they said it's been slow, hopefully next month will change alot.

Trout season is closed most everywhere up there in March, ain't it? India Brook in Mendham is where I caught my first ever on a fly...it is a small stream though.
