i watched mike ikovielies show(not sure how to spell his name) and man i got to say i can honestely fish multiple spots here in shafter ,CA. all within 5 to10 mins from my house if i dont want a ticket or the train dosent hold me up, and catch a varitity of fish. catfish, carp, small and largemouth bass, rock bass, crappie, bluegill, stripper, trout in the cold season, and baitfish like shad. i think its pretty cool to have that kind of access. any one else have some nice spots in ur town....

I;ve been urban fishing my whole life, so I get a kick out of it. I fish the places most anglers won;t touch, and catch all kinds of fishes. I liked when he went Bass fishing in Central Park - I use dto catch bass all the time in the Harlem Meer. Guys would use fly rods, too, just to get a little action while they were stuck in the city!

Central flroida has fishable water surrounding it. I started fishing from banks pulling out a few fish here and there. Then i started cat fishing in small ponds with some success. If i plan on making a new fishing spot i have to watch out for gators and snakes. nothing like fishing in pa. i used to bush whack my way to the side of the pond, but not so much down here. i recently bought a small jon boat. it has opened a ton of great spots for me. i can get to some areas larger boats cant. Loving it right now!

I actually have not had a gator steal my fish yet. I have caught a gator on a top water… Then this past weekend in a tournament I hooked up with a 4-5 footer while using a 7inch sinko worm… snapped the line after a good long fight.

dont know how urban we are (town of 15,000) but i live in the center of town and i am 6 blocks from the roanoke river,10 blocks from roanoke rapids lake, and a 1/4 mile from lake gaston.so thats not bad for fishing fans.

Have you guys read his book? Some one picked it up for me, I am from Jersey and love bass fishing too.

It is a really good inside look at him as a person, and fishing as a competative sport. It also covers how he broke the ice in the BASS federation to help eliminate descrimination.

They country boys didn't like Mike and his RAP music, let alone his Toyota truck lol!

It's a good read, if I can find it I would mail it to anyone who wanted to read it!

Me and my neighbor pulled a mike iconelli today. I'm sure they heard us at camp sites 5 miles away. Digital scale 16.1lb spring scale 14lb large mouth. Man I thought he was gonna have a heart attack. Every one gets pissed at me for being a loud guy on the lake. Mike is my hero.

Adam, I also read Iaconelli's book. The opening paragraph is hilarious. I won;t give it away here but I recommend it. Overall, it's a good read. Not a classic, but still enjoyable. It's nice to see a Jersey boy - and a paesan - whip some the Southern BASS types every so often, too!
