Aluminum Jon Boat Seat Installation

Any recommendations as to the best way to install cushioned seats in an Aluminum Jon Boat?
It has the typical two bench seats... in the past I was using these clampy-like seat brackets designed to straddle
the bench seats. They never really stayed very secure. The ones I'm looking to install are low profile ( they don't have a long pedistal ). Would reasonably big sheet metal screws hold?
Appreciate any suggestions.

i wouldnt feel good with sheet metal screws i personally would get it welded on or i would create an access under the bench so i could bolt a plate under it to spread out the wieght

So would you not recommend the ones the clamp to the bench? I was thinking about purchasing two for my boat. It was suggested to be that I wrap an old bike tube around the bars to give more grip! Not sure if that helps

Ray,
I did something similar with rubber tubing... it helped a bit but more than a few time I found myself catching myself when I leaned back in the seat.
I am trying something new this go round. Where the seat bracket bars dip along side of the bench, I placed a huge stainless steel sheetmetal screw and huge washer in each corner, on both sides of the bench. I've given it the "dry dock" test... won't be getting the boat in to water until sometime next week.

Will do Ray... been a hecktic trying to get back on the water as I have a son getting married very soon and there's been project after project...coordination...planning yada yada.
Should know soon....I hope

The seats worked great!!! They felt very secure, and fishing Lake Carasaljo in Lakewood really put them to the test... That lake is soooo seaweed jammed, I spent a lot of time leaning over to free up the prop..

good to hear. I too bought and tested one seat for the front bench of my boat. My wife and i hit up a lake to do some pre-fishing for a tournament. She enjoyed the seat. i see what you meant when you said it wasn’t very secure. I used some drawer grip to cover the bench to prevent scratching and to allow for some extra grip. Worked pretty well.

I forgot to mention that the bench seats do not allow access from the bottom.
Would greatly appreciate any insight as to how to best secure the seat mounting plate.
