I feel fall is a time to use basicly the same baits as summer, just bigger as Brian has said, and in a slower presentation. As the weeds regress a suspended crank bait with long pauses can work well. Avoid the fast flashy "chase me down" spinners and spoons. A slow swimming curly tail or ribbon tail long worm Texas hooked and weighted in a darker yet silver flecked color is still a killer. Top water action dies off as temps go down.

i dissagree with you on the spinner baits dennis ill be throwing those alot durring the fall, maybe using some colorodo blades to slow down the retreives, ill be using jigs and bigger cranks and suspending jerks thats the ticket!

I find that the bigger bass in general stop the faster chase that spinner & fast reaction baits trigger. The smaller bass still like a chase in colder weather, but the big ones seem to get lazy. I'm North Jersey and over 1,000 foot elevation so that could be a factor.

Fall Trout starts now in NJ. They will take small spinners, Salmon eggs, worms, and small curly tail weighted grubs. They stock even bigger fish now and a month from now (Winter program gets brood stock!).

Nothing is killin' em.......but I have caught pickerel on in-line spinners, Crawfish crank, and Wild eye swimmers.

Bass on Senco worms, spinnerbait, and in-lines...big hasn't seemed to work for me, but I'm tryin'.
