hey plaza river walked has slowed down big time and so has truxton this last plant wasnt all that fat i was hoping for a reboost next week but who knows for certain. your best bet is going to be BV becouse thats the only place that seems to be planting but a lot of fishing pressure this last week with anglers lined up like its the derby, the best bait has been garlic ail power bait dipped in garlic, i was using power eggs but the best bite is definatly on garlic ail good luck brotha hope you catch some monsters!!!!!!!!!

What is the trout spot on Truxtun, never fish out there???

I haven't fished locally in a couple months but my usual places are:

TRUXTON - on the bank across from the island and farther down in the trees on the bike path that splits the big lake and the smaller one.  Had luck with spinners (Rooster and Panther) across from the island.  I use a combination of baits farther down.  Dough on a standard trout line and 3ft leader, mouse tails 2ft below a bobber on a very slow retrieve (trout seem to like the action).  During the warmer months, I fish bass on the smaller lake at the swampy water exit closest to Coffee Rd.  T-rigged 7" pumkinseed ribbontails of any brand are my go-to at that spot.  Others have fished the inlet flume near the water tank on the big lake but I haven't had any luck there.  Truxton is weird though, you'll get a ton of action or absolutely nothing.  Expect a few "stink-eyes" if you walk out with a full stringer.  People are weird.

BV - I usually fish the inlet on the lake-side of the foot bridge.  It's kinda weird to fork over the day-use fee then drive out to the inlet, but that's how it goes and the ranger will check everyone.  Anything goes there, but I usually try to cast toward the reeds on the opposite side.

Kern River - I like the first bridge.  There are several small parking lots with river access.  I like small spinners (Rooster and Panther) behind a torpedo or acorn shaped float.  The float doesn't drag as much and keeps the spinner off the rocks.  I need to find a better spot but have failed at several others, so I keep ending up here.

Lake Isabella - Kissak Cove.  Long casts with basic trout lines and dough or air-injected nightcrawlers.  Caught a few on spinners but the trout lines work best.  This spot has a "locals only" vibe but I've not had any problems.  I haven't been there in 3 years, but I can't imagine it's changed that much.  A few Europeans from down south hit this same spot for carp... easy to spot as they don't talk much, have really wacky looking HEAVY gear, and cast about an eighth mile.

Balch Park - not exactly Bakersfield but awsome!!!  Day trip or camp, and the trout hit about anything just about everywhere.  Just remember there are 3 ponds up there, two at the campgrounds and another down the road at Hedrick Mill.

I've also fished Lake Ming, Heart Park, and River Walk but have better luck at the places I mentioned above.
