Shad Run?

Anyone fishes for Shad in NJ. I was thinking about this year trying Shad a little bit. Where is a good spot? What lures/baits to use? When is the Shad run?

Saw the post on the shad run on the Delawre river. Shad fishing is good on most any river on the east coast that ends in a sound . The fish migrate up river to spawn. I live in NC and the run usually starts about mid march. I fish the Roanoke and Neuse rivers. I use 1/8 oz shad darts and small 3/4 trailer spoons. They will bite most any small spinner or spoon.

Read John McPhee's book The Founding Fish. It tells all about the Shad Run on the Delaware. It's amazing. If you fish for shad, the Delaware is the greatest shad run in the world, bar none.
