Catfish stings

I was wondering if anyone here knows of a way to reduce or elininate the painful sting of a catfish sting,,,,

besides not getting stung in the first place LOL! Any help or avdice on this would be greatly appriciated.

you take and rub the fish slime on it.That is what all of the old timers say.

I punted a foot long catfish, barefooted when I was younger. I got spined bad in the foot. Swelled up pretty good and I had trouble walking. It went down after a day. I would say the bigger worry is bacteria from the water getting in your blood system. Neosporin and Bacitracin always work well against infection.

Thank you all for the info, did a little research and found out that a very small percentage of catfish have venom.

just remember to grip them right and if its a big one then grab it through the gills or be brave and grab him by the mouth

I have never been spined but my grandfather has and he did the old fish slime trick too!

I had the opportunity to test the slime of the catfish and it actually works!!!
