Orange Carp

Susan Ovadia

I have a question. Leslie Spencer, her boyfriend and myself were fishing in Tycoon Lake in Ohio. In a shallow area with a lot of water lillies we saw a very large orange fish. It looked to be at least 2 ft long. The only way I can explain the color is to say it looked like a Japanese Koi. Is this a carp or has someone decided they no longer wanted their pretty Koi fishy and dumped it?

Are you going fishing this evening Les? Yes, I'm still thinking about that monster! There are some carp bait recipes on here that sound pretty good. What do you think Japanese Koi eat? hehe

yes you can buy them at a petstore im guessing the fish got too big for the owner to handle and decided to dump him in the pond. We have a few out here in our ponds but i have never caught one before. Its a Koi carp i think

no farm ponds flood out into the river and you get big gold koi. theres one in my favorite spot  i thought it was a basketball drifting round and round in an eddy lol until i snagged it
