IS chicken liver the best for catfish?

Ken Smith

The best bait for catfish will depend on the body of water you are fishing.

Bait that is natural to them anyway and what they normally eat is best.

And it will depend on the type of catfish you are after for example: Channels cats seem to prefer live bait such as bluegills

Blue cats will go after cut bait fish of pretty much any kind.

Chicken livers are always a good standby

that's a hard question to answer because every where to go they  seem to like something diffrent, down here i can just use bread and catch a nice size channel i also use chicken and a homemade sauce and that works wonders but in the lakes.either of them work only the rivers they prefer i cut of sunfish or yellow perch, bloodworms, grass shrimp, or bunker.

Cut chunked herring does the trick on the delaware. I caught a nice 8lb.-er recently.

i always catch a lot on cut up hot dogs. or nightcrawlers. cut up fish works good too! catfish and carp in my opinion will eat anything if they're there, they will bite anything stinky and meaty.

I fish a lake in Southern Ohio and I catch channel cats on nightcrawlers. Have tried liver but they seem to like the live bait better.
