Most popular fishes on Hooked In

Henry V

I was looking at the list of fishes and counting the number of catches for each species. I was not surprised by number 1, the easy to catch LM Bass, but I was surprised by the popularity of some of the others. Here are the top six:

 1. LM Bass (4,000+ )

2. Bluegill (759)

3. Channel Cat (757)

4. Striped Bass (701)

5. Chain Pickerel   (608)

6. Bowfin (537)

To my amazement, there were more Bowfin posted than Rainbow Trout (412), SM Bass (498), Pike (224) and Walleye (122). I also figured that panfish would take the top spots, but the only the bluegill made the top ten. Only one anadromous species is posted (striper), where others like shad and salmon did not rank too high. And I would not think the channel cat the most popular catfish (though it is the best tasting one). And who knew the pickerel drew such a crowd?

Joe, you have a crazy site here. I think this top 6 reminded me why I keep coming back.

You can catch all those fishes in NC. They just don't like you.

you pull a musky, trout, walleye or northern pike out of any of the impoundments and I'll buy you the next rod you break, you know were all too lazy to drive 3 hours to fish   :P

Henry - thanks for posting those stats. That's interesting.

Because it is based on member postings, Hooked-in grows in a very organic way. I am actually surprised there are not more bowfin, pickerel, and snakes :)

It will be interesting to see how the site "evolves" over time.

I look forward to the new postings every day. You never know what you will see next! That's what keeps it interesting to me, too!

NC is definitely leading in many areas.  Northern trout and salmon fishermen need to step up their game!
